The self-pronouns as used as:

This compound personal pronouns can be made by adding the word self of the personal pronouns.
Compound personal pronouns are used reflexively with reflexive verbs and the are unstressed.
Examples – Reflexive Pronouns
She hurt herself.
He is looking at himself in the mirror.
They gave themselves a great deal of trouble.
He helped himself with some apples.
They are very pleased with themselves.
The self-pronouns are used for emphasis.
Examples – Emphatic Pronouns
I did it myself.
He wrote the message to himself.
You should do it yourself.
She do that project by herself.
We decide to do that ourselves.
The emphasis is even stronger if the -self pronoun follows the subject.

I myself did it.
She said that David himself did that.
He himself wrote that message.
We ourself decide to do that.
Compound personal pronouns are used instead of personal pronouns i, you, etc. if they are connected with the preceded non by and or like.
